My Morning Ritual Story

A few years ago, I was going through a period of mental and emotional turmoil. I had suffered a great loss and as a consequence I was experiencing feelings of depression, anxiety, fear, grief, and hopelessness. I found life very challenging and would drift through my days with no focus, intention, or purpose. I experienced terrible mood swings and found it almost impossible to maintain a balanced and clear mind.

I decided to start a morning ritual to add some structure and discipline to my life. I was already a yoga and meditation teacher and holistic health coach, so I used those skills to coach myself through the creation process.

I put together lots of morning ritual ideas on a vision board to help me design my perfect ritual that would nourish, uplift, inspire and fulfil me. I ended up creating a main 60 minute ritual and then a series of shorter rituals based on how much time I had. Each ritual contained the same elements, except the shorter ones which obviously had to lose a few of the components.

The result of this is that I ALWAYS stick to my morning ritual because even if I have less time, I have a shortened version to use. Over time, I have realised that sticking to a morning ritual helps me so much in managing my mental and emotional wellbeing because I start my day in such a positive way.

My Morning Rituals

Before starting my morning rituals, I always play soft meditation music or a sound bath, then light a candle and some incense, offering these to the Buddha to set the atmosphere of reverence and sacredness.

It is therefore imperative that you guard this precious time fiercely. One of the very worst things you can do first thing after you wake is to look at your phone or computer. You do not want social media notifications and news stories being the first thing your brain is exposed to immediately after waking.

Having these things enter your subconscious, especially if they are negative, will only serve to create more anxiety and low mood, which will make your vibrational frequency plummet. You will take this energy and these negative emotional states with you into your day and if you do this every day, they will be the primary contributing factors that shape your life.

It is crucial that you take this time seriously and utilise the powerful potential it presents to you. That is where carefully crafted morning rituals comes in. Using the morning ritual ideas here, as well as your own, you can create a beautiful and nourishing start to your day that will infuse your subconscious with positive, supportive ideas, serving to reprogram your thought and belief systems, raise your vibrational frequency, and consciously create your reality.
